As many of you who follow me on Instagram and Twitter may recall, I have recently committed to signing up for The Runner's World Half & Festival!
This October 16th-18th, 2015, alongside with THE Bart Yasso and thousands of like-minded folks, I will be tackling my very first "hat trick" (5K, 10K and half marathon in the same weekend) at the Runner's World Half Festival in the ever so beautiful Bethlehem, PA. I have decided to once again begin my fundraising journey, this time for the kids! Working as a local teacher in an elementary school the past five years has allowed me to see the need for healthcare assistance with low-income families.
I have teamed up with St. Luke's University Health Network and St. Luke's Healthy Kids Bright Futures team to raise funds and awareness for youth health initiatives within St. Luke's region of care. These community programs and initiatives include the HealthStar Mobile Youth Clinic Program providing medical, dental, and vision services to undeserved youth communities; Community Health Centers providing health care programs within are elementary schools; in-patient pediatric health programs; Kids' Care Clinics providing care to children without insurance; and broader-reaching health and wellness initiatives like the Get Your Tail on the Trail and Live Your Life programs encouraging health, wellness, and balanced nutrition.
